When we were approached to design and build a custom infrared sauna for a luxury residential high-rise in Burnaby, we knew this wasn’t going to be your standard install. This was SoCo 2, a premium tower featuring over 12,000 square feet of amenities, and the vision was clear — create something bold, beautiful, and unmatched in British Columbia. So we did.
A 15’ x 10’ Statement Piece
This project became the largest commercial infrared sauna in BC — measuring an impressive 15 feet by 10 feet. It’s also the biggest infrared sauna project we’ve ever built at Blackstone Saunas.
Most infrared saunas are compact, often designed for 2–4 people with a single-tier bench layout. This space is on a completely different level.
Over 30 High-Efficiency Infrared Panels
To properly heat a space of this size, we installed over 30 high-efficiency, world-class infrared panels strategically positioned throughout the room. Panel placement was critical to ensure:
Even heat distribution
Maximum comfort
True therapeutic infrared coverage
Commercial durability
This wasn’t just about scale — it was about performance.
A Rare Two-Tier Infrared Bench System
Infrared saunas typically feature a single bench along the perimeter. For this build, we engineered a custom two-tier bench system, allowing for:
Increased seating capacity
Elevated heat experience on the upper tier
Flexible use for residents
It blends the spacious feel of a traditional sauna with the targeted efficiency of infrared.
Premium Cedar Interior
The entire sauna is finished in beautiful natural cedar, chosen for its:
Durability in heat environments
Classic sauna aroma
Warm, luxury aesthetic
Resistance to moisture
The wood tones combined with the architectural layout create a clean, modern West Coast feel fitting perfectly inside a luxury Burnaby high-rise.
Cove LED Strip Lighting
Lighting makes or breaks a space like this. We incorporated integrated cove LED strip lighting throughout the ceiling and perimeter to create:
Soft, ambient glow
Architectural depth
A high-end spa atmosphere
Energy efficiency
The result is warm, inviting, and elevated — not harsh or clinical.
Built for a Luxury Residential Tower
This sauna lives inside SoCo 2 in Burnaby, part of a high-end residential community offering 12,000 sq ft of premium amenities. The goal was to design something that felt exclusive and resort-level — something residents would actually use and talk about.
This isn’t a standard builder-grade amenity.
This is a statement.
Why This Project Matters
Infrared saunas are often seen as small, personal wellness units. This build proves they can scale — beautifully and effectively — into large commercial applications when designed properly.
At Blackstone Saunas, we don’t just sell saunas. We engineer experiences.
And this one?It sets a new standard for commercial infrared in British Columbia.
